AC-50009, CUNY Research Foundation, New York City College of Technology:
Technological Evolution and Social History of Five New York City Neighborhoods. The New York City College of Technology, in partnership with the Municipal Art Society of New York, received a Humanities Initiative grant in 2006 to study how new technologies for building subways, skyscrapers, and bridges changed social dynamics in local New York City neighborhoods. Working with faculty from the fields of architecture and fine arts, participants examined the population shifts related to these innovations in five neighborhoods: Flushing and Jackson Heights in Queens, Harlem in Manhattan, and Sunset Park and East Flatbush/Crown Heights in Brooklyn. |
